Dear homeschool family, FHE,

Our hearts are overwhelmed with your kind calls, cards, meals and floods of prayer. Through all the exams, testing, and uncertainty that suddenly came upon us during the month of January, you were and continue to be our precious family.

"So what happened?" some of you may be asking. Discomfort followed the holidays. Only one sharp pain, 2 doctors and a sonogram reported the bad news. "It doesn't look good -- larger that a grapefruit tumor in the left ovary, other growths along the uterine wall. Appears to be fast growing -- won't know until we get inside if its cancer. Prepare for the worst, just in case."

The following days were filled with blood tests, surgery talk, much uncertainty, and lots of prayer. There was an error in some of the blood tests that led us down a rabbit path, But we know that overall, God is in control, even in the very minute details of our lives (like a small blood clot). And for the last week He gave, for one of the rare times in my life -- that wonderful peace that passes understanding.

Prayer, by so many of you, was felt and so deeply appreciated. Also, the elders from Salem Baptist came and prayed as in James 5.

Surgery was January 28 and with a spinal anesthesia we began a unique homeschool unit study! I was awake to see biology take on new meaning as the "housing contents" of my 5 chicks were presented on a tray for viewing! Talk about the lifestyle of homeschooling! No, they would not let me take these home.

In recovery the 'hoped-for' words "It's benign" were gladly welcomed. We know you rejoice with us.

Recovery continues joyfully and we want to thank you with all our hearts for your prayers and your love. You have been kindred spirits to an endearing level.
