WARTHOGS BOOSTER CLUB AND BASEBALL GAMES

By Lori Gugan

Last year my family enjoyed attending Warthogs baseball games. Near the end of the season we learned that there is a Booster Club that supports the players in many ways. For a mere $10 a year (per family) or $5 (individual) you can come and learn more about the sport of baseball and the Warthogs.
The Booster Club provides snacks for the players on road trips. They also sponsor a "get to know the players" banquet at the beginning of the season, a picnic during the season, then an "end of the season" picnic. There are areas for everyone to be involved.
Our family is going to adopt a player this year. Players submit their names to be adopted and names are drawn for families wanting to adopt a player. By adopting a player you can have that player over for dinner, send him cards, bring him snacks, or maybe pick up his relatives from the airport when they come to the games. You get involved as much or little as you want.
Discount ticket books are available for $50. You get a book of 15 general admission tickets, which is a savings of $1.16 per ticket. If you are interested in a book of tickets, please contact me at 699-8994.
If you are interested in being a part of the Booster Club contact Chris Williams at 249-7414. Meetings are the second Tuesday of the month at various locations.
Also available for children 12 years and under is the "Kids Club." Last year it cost $6 and your child received T-shirt, free admission to Sunday games, a discount ticket on all other games, and a picnic with the players and Wally the Warthog. When I called the Warthogs office they did not have all of the information available for this years "Kids Club." If you are interested you can call Donna at the Warthogs Office at 759-2233.

I hope many of you will take advantage of our local team. If Major League Baseball comes to Winston-Salem, you won't be able to take your child to a game for under $30. I believe that people don't realize that we will lose the Warthogs if Major League Baseball comes to town.
