Another basketball season has come and gone for FHE. Our team started playing three seasons ago with significant improvement each year. In my opinion the most dramatic improvement has been this year. We finished out the season with 6 wins and 5 losses, and with only one exception, the losses were very close! These results have come from a team who could only practice once a week. Just think what we could have done had we been able to practice or play 5 times weekly like most of our opponents. CONGRATULATIONS TEAM on a job well done!

The team owes much of its success to the faithful coaching of Ernie Hodges. He has coached for us the past two seasons, and we owe him a great big "THANK YOU!" But Ernie needs some help. The number of boys who want to play is growing. Since this year's team was playing mostly junior varsity teams many of the 12 and 13 year olds did not get an opportunity to play as much as the older boys. Ernie sees a need to have two teams next year -- a middle school team and a high school team. However, in order for this to happen additional coaches or assistant coaches must offer their services. If a lot of people volunteer to help it would lighten the load on everyone. Then there would be no need for one volunteer to have to attend every game and every practice. The need for additional help becomes apparent during a game when we see Ernie off to the side taking a call from the hospital while the boys play without a coach!
