Books or Letters on Tape
By Teri Emerson

Do you have grandparents or cousins that live far away? Do you have a spouse who travels as part of their job? Maybe you have a reluctant reader whose interest needs encouraging. These are just a couple of ways you can use to encourage your children to read and correspond to long distance family.

Everyone likes to hear the sounds of children's voices and family members can play cassette tapes over and over again at home or in the car! Wouldn't it be neat if the kids make tapes to send to Grandma and she could make tapes to send back? She will also have an idea how the children are thriving in homeschool.

Read your favorite scripture, short stories or poems and the narrator can make personal comments between selections. You can use this as a starting point and expand this with your own creativity.
