BECOMING A CHRISTIAN




I left this page plain white with simple black text for a few reasons. The way to salvation is simple. The need for salvation is black and white, there is no in-between. The black letters remind me of sin, the white page of Christ's purity, and the cleansing of our hearts.

Christians often make becoming a Christian seem complicated. They sound spiritual and wordy. Salvation is simple. Jesus said that we are to come to Him as children, not perfect people. People commonly feel a need to get "cleaned up" before they come to Jesus, that is sort of like getting well before you go to the doctor. Needless to say that doesn't make sense.

There are a few simple steps that need to be followed for someone to become a Christian.



1. You must recognize that God exists. Sounds like an obvious point but it isn't. Many people do not believe in God they believe in a power or life force. God is all knowing, all powerful, and has always existed and always will. He is the creator of all that is. He knows you and your heart. That is God....not "The Force".

2. You must recognize that Jesus is the Son of God, not merely a good man or great teacher. He is God in the flesh, the Messiah. This is a point that separates many who would like to call themselves Christian from that reality.

3. You must recognize your fallen state in relationship with God. Admit that you have sinned. Sin is knowing what is right and yet choosing to do something else.

4. You must recognize your need for a savior. Again, this may seem obvious but many people believe that the power to reconcile with God is found within them. They are trying to find the light within themselves, not in Jesus.

5. You must recognize that Jesus is that savior. He is the one who paid the price for YOUR reconciliation with God. He is not A Savior, He is THE Savior. His death has made it possible for you to be right with God.

6. The last step may seem like the easiest but it is often the most difficult. You most accept the gift. Realizing that you did not earn it, nor do you deserve it. It is a gift, that came with a great price. The people who miss heaven will do it by about 12 inches.....they come to Christ with their heads, not their hearts!! Just believing isn't enough, even the demons believe. You must accept.

If you have come to this place in your life, you can pray, right now, while sitting at your computer. You can use your own words, your can pray out loud or just in your heart, these things don't matter. Jesus hears you from your heart. Just tell Him thank you for the gift of his death. You may choose to express the acknowledgement of each of the above points, but it is not necessary, just believe them and accept it.

That is all there is to it!!


Once you have come to this place you are a Christian. No test to pass, your membership dues have been paid in full. It is now up to you to decide to grow closer to Christ. Reading His word, the Bible, talking to Him(prayer), and hanging around your new family (fellowship, usually in a church). These elements combined will help to strengthen your walk with the Lord. It may seem awkward at first but like Nike says....Just do it. You will grow.
