The following statements are a suggested guide to the care of the Sealyham.

 THE BREEDER SHOULD:

• Dock tails and remove dew claws
• Have puppy free of worms when sent to new owner
• Have puppy properly inoculated against Hepatitis, (geographical area specific for Leptospirosis), Distemper, and Parvo virus
• A record of temporary or permanent shots should accompany the puppy
• Send registration slip to new owner to be completed and sent to the AKC
• Provide a good healthy puppy properly groomed
• Send instructions on proper case of the puppy. This should include information on food, nutrition and grooming, including care of the coat.
• Stress should also be placed on the need for the puppy to have proper rest and exercise.

• Provide puppy with a bed or a rest area which he may call his own.
• Be willing to provide an enclosed area in which the puppy can exercise free from the threat of road traffic.
• Be willing to keep his Sealy looking well groomed.
• Seek the service of a veterinarian for yearly shots and for the maintenance of good health.
