"In 1707 they moved to Newington and purchased seventy-two acres of land from his brother, Deacon Jabez Whittlesey. On this land he erected his house and barn and started farming. Mr. Whittlesey was one of the "prudential committee" in the society in 1723, also in 1727. He acted as treasurer for the committee at the ordination of their minister, Nov. 6, 1747, he closed his account with them and was credited with 00:13:6. His name appears on the list of Newington church members in 1747; on the committee to superintend letting the school money during the year 1748; was one of the committee "to seat the meeting-house 1756.""
