Chapter 1 {continued}
{Sexual
Perversion}
26-27~~Because
of this {negative volition at gospel hearing}
the
God delivered them over
to
the passions of dishonor/disgrace/perversions,
for
not only their 'non-feminine females' {thelus}
exchanged
the normal {function of sex}
for
that which is contrary
to
natural function {lesbianism} 27~~
but
also in the same manner,
even
the 'non-manly males' {arrhen}
-
after they had abandoned
the natural sexual function with the female-
became
inflamed in sexual desire
in
their lust toward each other
of
the same kind {other homosexuals}.
'Non-manly
males' with 'non-manly males'
in
accomplishing the perverted act
and
receiving back payment in themselves
{discipline in the form of mental illness, psychoses, and physical
illness see also Leviticus 18:22}
that
Judgment for their perversion
which
was inevitable.
{Note:
The normal Greek word for a woman is gune. But here we have thelus.
RBT says this is a non-feminine female. Then instead of respectable
words like anthropos for category mankind or aner for a 'noble man',
here the homosexual is called arrhen, which is a non-noble or
non-manly man.}
{Note:
The phrase 'after they had abandoned the natural sexual function
with the female' tells us that homosexuality is not something you are
born with, it is something you consciously decide to do from your own
free will. It is a sin and it is evil. But as with all sins, it is
forgiven when you confess it. As with all evil, it can be eliminated
from your consciousness by the daily intake of the Word.}
28~~And,
since in full/epignosis knowledge . . .
-
after having carefully tested/examined God -
they
absolutely rejected {ouk dokimazo} the God,
God
delivered them {over to judgment}
to
a worthless/unfit/'one not standing up to testing' {adokimos}
mind
{nous}. . .
doing
those evil things
which
are improper {outside of God's plan}.
{Note:
This is another paramenasia/play on words. The words Paul used
demonstrate the excellent humor of Paul and God the Holy Spirit. Ouk
Dokimazo means unbelievers absolutely rejected God. So God then
through Paul says He will 'adokimos' them ('a' is the negative alpha
privative and dokimos is a form of dokimazo with the negative meaning
'failing the review and testing'). This verse tells us that all
unbelievers are fully aware of God and His existence. They then
review, examine and 'test Him for approval'. At the end of all the
review, they still reject God. Therefore, God is fair in turning them
over to judgment in time and for eternity.}
{Verses
29-32: Evil Manifestations of Heathenism}
{What
are the Evil things that are improper?}
29~~Being
'fully with'/fully influenced' {pleroo}
by
all anti-justice/anti-righteousness {adikia} . . .
by
a state of evil/wickedness {poneria}
{1st category of unrighteousness},
by
inordinate desire/covetousness {pleonexia}
{2nd category of unrighteousness},
by
the function/practice of evil/depravity/degeneracy} {kakia}
{3rd category of unrighteousness - examples of this
category follow:} . . .
full of jealousy {phthonos},
{full of} murder {phonos},
{full of} dissension/strife/discord {eris},
{full of} treachery, deceit, cunning {dolos},
{full of} evil craftiness {kakoetheia},
{full of} gossip {psithuristes}, 30~~
{They
have become:}
slanders {katalalos},
God-haters {theostuges - attack institutions God set up -
military, police, etc.},
insolent/over-bearing/disrespectful ones{hubristes},
arrogant/'boastful presumptuous' ones {alazon},
inventors of evil things {epheuretes kakos -
if you do not have the Truth, you create your own pseudo-truth}
with reference to parents . . . disobedient ones,31~~
without understanding/ignorant {asunetos - NOT understanding
the underlying reasons for a law},
contract breakers/faithless {their name/word/reputation is
meaningless to these},
unloving/'lack of capacity to love'/'void of the instincts of love'
{astorgos},
implacable {aspondos - respect no authority but do what
they want},
unmerciful/lack of mercy'/non-sympathetic {aneleemon}.
32~~Who
{people with characteristics of the previous verses} . . .
though
they have a 'full knowledge'/'total cognizance' {epignosko}
of
the 'legal requirements of the justice/righteousness {dikaioma}
of
God {meaning - though they have total perception of the legal
requirements of the justice of God}
that
those who practice such negative things
{prasso - never used for 'doing good things'}
keep
on being deserving/worthy of death!
Not
only . . . {are they} doing the same things,
but
are giving their approval
to
those who practice them
{encouraging others to think and do evil}.
{Note:
Epignosko means "complete and full knowledge". It means to
have a definite and exact perception . . . to understand something
through and through. Total understanding of a subject. They
understood the gospel, the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. They
understood their sins and the sins of the world were poured out on
Jesus Christ on the Cross and that the justice of God judged those
sins, so that divine justice is free to give salvation to all who
believe. Belief creates instant adjustment to the justice of God. The
justice of God is made free to give/impute salvation/+R to the
believer without compromise of divine righteousness. Justice is the
watchdog of divine attributes of God.}
