I think The Fabulous Miss Tilly would be a good candidate for his next girlfriend. You can see her picture on page 3 of our web page: http:/sites.netscape.net/hounddogsportswear/homepage. She is from the Guardian Angel Basset Hound REscue, we got her when she was 3 months old, she is now almost 8 months and is very verbal!! One page one you will meet Larry, who has since been struck with glaucoma and is permanently blind but does surprizingly well getting around. Boom and Elvis are his sons. We love the bassets (and all our animals.) The cat rules the roost though!!

Thanks Cooper, we especially enjoyed the rescue stories. You see, I too am a rescue Basset. My mom got me from someone that keeps foster dogs for the Humane Society. My previous owner kept me outside. Then my own dog dad got me pregnant. I had to give bir h outside in January with no bedding at all in my house for me and my 11 puppies. Unfortunately, not all of my puppies lived. I also had to witness one of my old owners dog kill another one of his dogs. It was really a bad life. His friends used to tease e becasue I was so shy. I am still skittish but my new mom has really helped me with this. Luckily, I was rescued and spaded and given another chance at life. I now live in the apartment with her. I get to sleep on the bed and on all the other furniture. I get feed twice a day and have gained so much weight that I now weigh 41 pounds (I know, for 3 I am still not a huge Basset). Mom takes me almost everywhere w th her, except to her office at the university. She says dogs can't come in. I still have some trouble about peeing in the house. But, I was an outside dog, and mom is very patient with me because she knows I had a tough start to life and often get scared and lose it in the house. I love rawhide bones, pig ears, breakfast, going for walks, riding in the car, and chasing squirrels. I never knew life could be soo enjoyable. I love my mom for giving me a new home, a lot of love and patience. Oh, did I forget to mention my previous owner works for animal control? Go figure.

Well, Cooper, after 20 yrs raising and showing standard, smooth doxies, I moved over to bassets--I have to have those big ears, lots of lip, skin, wrinkles (kennel name is Wylmoor Wrynkls Bassets), "top knots", gorgeous top lines and personality with no e d. Our mom loves the entertainment of showing, keeps us in top form and doesn't overbreed or approve of those who do. She has some of us who are open red and whites (she says "peaches and cream"), and some of us who are tri-color--both "flashy" with lots of white and ticking, and "somber" with dark saddles and amber heads. She wants dark eyes, a sweet soulful look, and stable behaviour. We all have distinct and wonderful personalities and have the most beautiful "bays"--she calls them "bah-rooooos". Ou auntie, Beatrix Potter (the old lady, now, and a flashy tri) will challenge you any day to a round of "Home on the Range". Nessy (Wylmoor's Clytymnystra) does a wonderful cha-cha, and Dottie is Mom's "beauty". Snickers is busy completing her championsh p and Willy and Allan are real, classical "Beaujangles" types--you know, low ridin', big eared, slow movin' handsome hounds. To all interested, one of the greatest shows going is the BASSET HOUND OLYMPICS, Lebanon, OR. All welcome--any kind of basset ca enter all the day's fun and frolic. It is held the next to the last week end of July (18-19). The following week end is the Northwest Regionals, Portland, OR. Some of the finest will be there. Hello, I am not a Hound owner anymore, although we had a coonhound till about 4 years ago. We lost her to Heartworms I am very sad to say & the reason I am admitting this to the world, is that I want to make everyone aware of the dangers of Heartworms & that it an happen even to the best of them...We had kept her on preventative all her life (12 years) but did'nt start her on it early enough her last year, it had been a long winter so we started her out on it late & well as the story goes...well you now know our sad ending. So I guess this is to say goodbye to our loved one (Bonkers) we miss you! I have a dalmatian who we love to but, nothing compares to the love a basset gives you. As a teenager I had a dog who was a mixed breed(or mutt). She was my whole life I never thought I could find another puppy that special again. Teiko is just about the best baby I've ever had. Almost better than my four year old son. She listens better. I gue s I've found my dog breed for life. I will never own anything but bassets. Teiko has to be held when she goes to sleep otherwise she cries herself to sleep. I guees she's alittle spoiled. Also over here you cannot show a neutered dog and until this year we were going to show her but now we doubt we have the time - we've never payed/neutered the hamsters either - we only have one at a time.

Percy is a 2-yr-old female found in a corn field. she is adorable, she has us trained well. usually at 5 a.m. she'll slowly climb our stairs to our bedroom and lumber to our bedroom, even though she jumps up during the day, i think she's afraid of jumpi g on us so either my husband or i lift her up onto the bed where she sleeps between us, "people style" with her head resting on my pillow with me. We love her, like a bit stuffed animal.
