Grandmother's Kitchen
epb1937@scrtc.com
Everyone loved Grandmother's kitchen
For it was a special place.
Pretty flowers and refrigerator magnets helped
To decorate the area space.
The pots and kettles boiled on the stove.
In the oven there was cake and bread.
When the grandchildren opened the back door;
They sniffed the smell; and the wait they would dread.
Everyone loved Grandmother's kitchen.
Daughters, sons, aunts, uncles and grandchildren met there
Talking and laughing while tasting this and that;
And all to this day say, "The food was beyond compare!"
The other rooms in Grandmother's house
were filled with doilies and lace;
But Grandmother's kitchen
Served an extra heapin'-helpin' of love and grace.
