Christmas Celebration
epb1937@scrtc.com
Christmas was always
Celebrated with sharing our love
That God bestowed down
Upon us from above.
Christmas was always
Celebrated by giving of self.
We didn't purchase just any article
To set on a shelf.
Christmas was always
Celebrated as a special time,
And it didn't matter
If the gift only cost a dime.
Christmas was always
Celebrated with thankfulness
For family and friends
Which we would greet and caress.
Christmas was always
Celebrated with a kind word
And around each other
Our arms would gird.
Christmas was always
Celebrated not with material riches,
But with creating special gifts
Which were often made by sewing stitches.
Christmas was always
Celebrated with thoughts of care.
For family and friends,
We offered them up to God in prayer.
Christmas was always
Celebrated with squeals of joy
As each child unwrapped
A new, used, or cleaned-up toy.
Christmas was always
Celebrated by Mama reading the Nativity Story
From Luke's Gospel
And giving the children an oratory.
Today, we pause to think
Of Christmas celebrations in the past.
We treasure the blessings,
And precious memories that last.
