Plain People

epb1937@scrtc.com

Our ancestors were just people--
Ordinary and plain!
The house and home
The women did maintain
While the men were
The head of the domain.

Our ancestors were just people
Who lived before us.
From them we have received
Our genes, mores, and values plus;
And from them, our prominent features
are transmitted to us.

Our ancestors were just people.
They are our family line.
Our characteristies, looks, and appearances
We obtained through our blood-line.
To them, our resemblences and similarities
Are evident--even down to our hair-line.

Our ancestors were just people
And part of our history.
We desire to know more about them
And their life's story.
Their deeds, records, and wills
We read to locate their home territory.

Our ancestors were just people--
Ordinary and plain!
We study to learn more about them,
And document the history we attain.
We compile it in a family tree
To honor each and every link of our family chain.
