Do you believe in miracles?

I believe that God is still performing miracles today
and so do many other people.
The following is a story I came across some time ago
and copied to be able to share with those who doubt
that we still live in an age of miracles.

A Quiet Miracle...

It is wonderful to see God move in mighty ways, to be a part of a miracle, to be a part of an answered prayer. Imagine how awed the people of Israel were when the Red Sea was parted by Almighty God.

Most of us don't see those types of miracles today. Big events, spectacular circumstances. I personally have not seen anyone rise out of a wheelchair and walk. I've not seen blind eyes open, or deaf ears hear the praises of God in glorious music and song. I've read about them, yearned to see them, but, as of this moment, have not been witness to any.
However I was witness to a miracle of God. It did not have the "bigness" of the miracles we read about in the Bible. It may have not been as dramatic as some of the miracles we read about, or perhaps you have witnessed yourself, but it was a miracle.

My wife was suffering from a bout of clinical depression. She had returned from the hospital a few weeks earlier, and we could see how the Lord was restoring health to her mind and body. And yet, there was a depression that would come over my wife, which was not responding to anything. Prayers, medicines, counseling, nothing was having an effect. My wife describes her depression as a "heaviness", a weight under which, it is almost impossible to move. I did everything I knew how to do, was supportive, hugged her, let her know I loved her no matter what. We prayed together. I prayed for her. Nothing. Her depression did not abate at all.

Then one evening just before we went to bed, I suggested that we both kneel down in front of our living room sofa and began to sing praises unto God. Mind you, neither of us really "felt" like praising the Lord, but something inside my spirit told me this is exactly what we must do. And so, we began to sing praise chorus after praise chorus, until we were exhausted. Nothing happened, no change, so we went to bed.

The next morning when we awoke I asked my wife how she was feeling. She replied, "The weight is gone. It's as though the depression has been lifted from me. It's gone. The depression is gone! A miracle. During the night, while we were asleep, without disturbing us, the Almighty God came into direct and immediate contact with my wife's body.
The same hands that placed each star in the universe, came and lifted the depression from my wife. A miracle occurred. Praise the Lord!

If you are waiting for a miracle, don't give up. We learned there are quiet miracles, which take place with only God knowing. At the moment God was lifting the depression from my wife, neither of us had any idea of what was happening. It was only after the fact did we realize God had visited us. Don't give up. God can and does perform miracles in the most unlikely places and in the most unlikely ways

.
I pray that your miracle arrives today. And when it does, share it with believers and unbelievers alike. God is good and worthy of our praise. You may not see it, or hear it, or even sense the presence of the Lord, but thank God, our perceptions do not hinder the miracle working power of God.

I do not know the person that wrote this story about his wife and her miracle, if I did  I would ask for his permission to share this with you.  I do feel though that he would want as many people as possible to hear about it.  The times we live in today,  people need to know of the miracle working power of God and that He is still performing miracles in this day and age.  I found it interesting to note that in this story both husband and wife had already prayed and she had been prayed for by others also, yet no miracle!  It wasn't until the husband and wife knelt down
and started to sing praises to God, that things began to happen.
Have you noticed how many times in the Bible battles were won
by simply praising God.

In 2 Chron 20, we read the story of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.  His little kingdom was surrounded by powerful enemy armies and he knew that Judah didn't stand a chance without the help of God.  He cried out to God and God told him in 2 Chron. 20:15 "Be not dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's" (Amplified Bible)  God told Jehoshaphat, "You shall not need to fight this battle; take your
position, stand still and see the deliverance of the Lord.."

The next morning Jehoshaphat appointed singers to sing praises to the Lord. They went out before the army singing praises and giving thanks to the Lord, for his mercy and loving kindness.  The Bible tells us "And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushments against the men, who had come against Judah, and they were slaughtered."
2 Chron. 20:22-23.

Yes, prayer is very important and we should take our needs before God and ask for His help, but we must never underestimate the absolute Power there is in Praise. When we praise God we are showing Him that, no matter what, we trust Him and deem Him worthy of our praise.

Let me encourage you today.  Take the advice of the man that wrote the above story and start praising God in the midst of your situation.  Then 'stand still' and watch God go to work on your behalf.

I pray this story has been as much of a blessing to you as it has to me.
If it has blessed you in any way, I would love to hear from you.  Once again thank you to the person who wrote this testimony.  If you should read this article please write me and let me know I would love to give
you the credit for it.
