OOPS wrong Odie

OUR Odie MUST Be Here SomeWhere...You'll Just Have to Look

Odie is a 13 year old Peek-A-Poo who was supposed to have been a Pomeranian. When I was first married, My main concern was my first dog!! I had read magazine, books, and everything I could get my hands on to determine the type of dog I wanted. Given that we were living in an apartment that only accepted dogs under 10 pounds, the choices were somewhat limited.... Finally, I decided on a gold colored Pomeranian and then I researched breeders. Picked out a few with good reputations in the Mid-West, where we were living and then turned over the whole thing to my brand new husband (who insisted on actually buying the dog himself, since it was my wedding present).

Several weeks later, I hear the front door open. I'm sitting on the sofa when this little white guinea pig sized puppy comes tearing down the hallway and hurls herself at my feet. "What in the world is this??" My brand new husband's answer" "I went to the pet store to buy your Pomeranian but this one was on sale - I got it for half price!!" Believe it or not, we're still married!

Of course, in retrospect, I could not imagine Odie being anything other than what she is - the dearest little dog in the world. She protects me ferociously against other dogs (no matter what the size), insolent cats, imaginary things and the not-so-new husband when he has the audacity to give me a hug. She scratches wildly at the dog food bag when she's hungry, yips imperiously at the door when she wants out, growls at the big dogs to keep them in line, follows me from room to room and sleeps curled up next to me in the crook of my arm (and woe to the "big dog" who tried to intrude). She's slowed down some, although I try not to notice. But she will be, forever, the best "bargain" I'll ever find.
