Snake People--Born In The Year Of The Snake

Unlike the twelve-month cycle of western astrology, Chinese astrology is based primarily upon a cycle of twelve years. Each year is named for one of the twelve animals which came to bid Buddha farewell when he left the earth. A person's character follows the nature of the animal which rules the year of his birth. That animal is said to be "hiding in his heart." Persons born in the year of the snake* are shrewd in business, possessive, demanding and tenacious. Snake people love the good life. Snake men are attractive and ambitious. Most snake women dress elegantly, yet tastefully.

The ability of a snake to shed its skin symbolizes the snake person's ability to emerge from conflict unhurt. Snake people born in winter are more docile as this is the time of hibernation, while those born in summer are more dangerous characters. The snake person is sometimes ruthless but always independent and determined, and is considered likely to achieve fame and fortune. Chinese astrology recognizes monthly (lunar) cycles as well as annual (sun) cycles. The sign of the snke is loosely related to Taurus.
