Well, a lot of people on the View Askew website have been curious as to how I got a job working on Dogma, and what it was like working with Kevin. And while I still haven't had the time to write about the latter, I wrote a rather lengthy reply to Skon about how I got to work with Kevin, as well as some of my future aspirations, and I figured, instead of writing it all again, I'd just post it here. Skon's questions are in red, my answers are in green.

I'm just wondering how you got such a kickass job? (Meaning working on Dogma)  I was persistent as hell. The crew in Pittsburgh, as great as they are, seem to have something against hiring female PAs, and I wasn't, nor am I now, qualified really for any other position. So, following the advice of my friend Eric, I decided to go to Nancy Mosser and ask her for an internship. It just so happened that I chose an excellent time to do so. I started right before that week-that-turned-into-two long shoot of the last scene in the film. So I spent a lot of time on set. The next shoot was Jason Lee's last one, and since I hadn't met him when he was there before, since that was during my pre-internship time, I asked Kevin if I could go, even though there weren't any extras, since Jason is one of my favorite actors. Being the ultra cool guy he is, Kevin said yes, so I went. But I felt bad being there and not doing anything, so I helped out the locations people (an absolutely horrid job, but better than being a set PA i suppose, since i would have ended up doing the same thing, and more) and after that, everyone on the crew just assumed I was with locations, and since I was rarely a bother, they just let me hang out. The short answer to all that- I was just incredibly lucky.

And what types of courses did you take in college? Did you have any film or video experience before Askew? I'm currently a film major at Point Park College, basically so I can meet other film people, and so I get to use the equipment for free. But I've only taken a basic Super 8 class. I have an internship there, too, so I've learned some from there, mostly digital non-linear editing, but that really didn't have anything to do with me getting the job, other than the fact that I was able to get school credit for working on it.

Are you hoping to stay with Askew as long as humanly possible, or do you have any career plans outside the Askewniverse( or have you not thought that far )? Most definitely! However, I feel that the end has already arrived, unless Kevin or Vincent or Brian, or someone else decides that they enjoyed my presence so much that they would like to have me work on their next film. I've been incredibly lucky this past month and a half, gaining great connections, and friends, and after searching for 2 years finally aquiring a car the day after Dogma wrapped, and that same day I finally saw the Wallflowers/Godzilla/Carmen video after watching MTV constantly whenever possible, however the chances of that are rather unlikely, though not totally impossible. In short, I'm thinking like a realist on this one. I would not hesitate to seek advice from those in the VA community on my own work, not financially, but technically, but again, that may never happen. Basically, I'm just going to see how this all goes. Like those cheesy commercials say "hey, it can happen!" Although the fact that I've never even been in Monmouth county or Red Bank kind of relinquishes the possiblilities somewhat.

So there it is. My story. I know, it's not very exciting or anything. But one day you can say "I knew her back when she was just a nobody who was lucky enough to weasel her way on the Dogma set." Or something to that effect. Anyway, if you have any more questions, email me. I'll try to answer them the best I can. Or if you're sick of hearing about my experience, you can go back to the Dogma page.
