Dark Skies
...and the home of the Hive

"My name is John Loengard. This program is being presented as fiction to protect those fighting in the resistance. But I will tell you the truth now, if you will listen..."
With those words, we began the story of the life of John Loengard (Eric Close) and Kim Sayers (Megan Ward). The couple moved to D.C. to work for the government - and got more than they bargained for. John was swept up in a conspiracy to cover up UFOs and such by an organization known as Majestic-12, led by Captain Frank Bach (JT Walsh). When his girlfriend is abducted by aliens and a ganglion put in her head (making her "Hive") he decided it had gone too far and ARTed her (Alien Rejection Technique) - an experimental procedure. It worked, and the now alien-free Kimberly Sayers and her boyfriend left to tell the world of the alien threat, fighting Majestic every step of the way.
The happy couple
Although the show was cancelled by NBC, there may yet be hope for us. The creators of the series wish to make nine (or so) telemovies. They just need to get it picked up by a network (or whatever - it may be syndicated). So keep an eye on the skies...

JulietIt's too bad that this show took so much flack for being "an X-Files rip-off". True, it does appear that way on the surface, but anyone who's actually seen the show (and paid attention!) knows this is not true. It's set in the past, it deals strictly with aliens, its heroes are on the run, they are romantically involved, its entire tone is completely different, it doesn't hide its aliens but shows them off constantly, etc.

The X-Files didn't invent the concept of aliens and conspiracies. Star Trek, Lost in Space, The Outer Limits, and The Invaders are all tv shows that have done the same thing (in fact it is the latter that Dark Skies most closely resembles). In addition, many movies including The Puppet Masters, It Came from Outer Space, Invaders From Mars, and the various Body Snatcher movies focus on the aliens being "among us". In fact, it is a tradition of the medium. It is preposterous to suggest that any show which involves alien invasions and government conspiracies from now on is taken off of the X-Files.
As regards the Male-Female lead roles, this is also a very common practice. From The Avengers to Moonlighting to JAG the dynamic duos have spanned decades. Again, this was not a Chris Carter invention (his other show uses this configuration also, BTW).
