PROFIT
That's our Jim

Yes, another series which was cancelled - this time after only six episodes! (And only four of these screened in the US. We got all six here - it seemed like more.) This one revolved around the unscrupulous character of Jim Profit (Adrian Pasdar), who worked for the firm Gracen and Gracen, forever trying to get to the top.
It sounds uninteresting but the fun of the show was watching Jim's evil genius at work. He was brilliant and cared not a lick about anyone but himself. Of course, there was tragedy in his character as well. His father used to force him to sleep naked in a cardboard box and he still does this today. Although this causes sympathy, we still cannot condone his actions.

I myself was always rooting for Profit to win the day, although others in my family did not. I loved to see him outsmart the good guys every week in wonderful ways. The best thing about the character was the casual indifference he showed. The all time greatest Profit moment was when he figured out a way to cheat a lie detector test - in order to keep his body responding in a constant fashion, he stuck a tack in his shoe and jammed his foot into it so the lie detector couldn't find any fluctuations in body chemistry due to the pain overload. Of course Jim went through all this with barely a change of expression.

Anyway, I loved the show and am quite upset at its cancellation. Here are the only links I could find...

A Profit site.

And a television psychos site. NB For this, you may get a "File Not Found" prompt when trying to access different areas of the site. If this occurs, change "www.rcc" to "www.aarts" in the URL.
