The movie revolves around a young band who records a song which becomes a major hit and it depicts their rocket to stardom. However, it is the heart of the movie which really entertains. It focuses mainly on the characters themselves, and not the situation in which they are placed, although it takes its toll on them. Unlike many other movies of the genre, Hanks' takes an optimistic view which is very refreshing. You really have to see the movie to understand.
Tom Everett Scott (who plays the drummer Guy "Skitch" Patterson) closely resembles a young Hanks, something which adds to the relationship between their manager (Tom Hanks himself) and Guy. It is obvious that Hanks' character sees something of himself in the boy.
Anyway, enough from me.
