CHAMBER
Chamber is a member of Marvel's Generation X Team. He is eighteen years old and hails from London. Little is known about his life before his powers manifested. We do know that he had a girlfriend by the name of Gail Edgerton. For more information, see the Biography. We do not know how Charles Xavier tracked him down, or, more importantly, how the Phalanx failed to track him down. However, Charles Xavier DID track him down and convinced him to enroll at the Massachusetts Acadamy. We first see him en route, in Generation X issue #1, on page eight. (But who's counting?)He has settled down at the Acadamy, and bonded with the rest of the team, especially Penance, Skin, and Husk.
GENERATION X
Generation X is the newest and youngest team of X-Men. They are in training at the Massachusetts Acadamy, former home of the Hellions. The team was founded after the Phalanx invaded the computer system in Xavier's mansion and found the names and locations of the next generation of mutants (minus, as we have already mentioned, Chamber) (long story; either pick up the Orgins of Generation X Trade Paperback or find a different FAQ list--once I find one, I'll set up a link). Sean Cassidy and Emma Frost were forced into an unlikely alliance to track down the youngsters before the Phalanx could. The ordeal caused everyone to bond, and it seemed sort of natural to get together after that.
PENANCE
Penance was teleported onto the front lawn of the Acadamy on the first day of school by the being known as Gateway. She had been a prisoner of Emplate, and was horribly scarred from her ordeal. She had contracted her skin tightly around herself. Lately, she has begun to 'loosen up', in every sense of the term. She has yet to speak, and there has been speculation that she is physically incapable of such an act. Chamber has bonded with her, and they share a close kinship. He has been the most successful member of the team in reaching out to her.
SKIN
Skin is Chamber's best friend on the team. Their kinship stems from the fact that both are horribly disfigured through their mutation, and have lost all hope of a normal life. They have just returned from a trip to L.A. in search of Skin's past. The fact that they have shared this experience draws them closer together.
HUSK
SYNCH
In the Generation X Ashcan, it said that Synch had a rivalry with Chamber because they both want to lead the team. However, we haven't seen very much of that at all. Most likely the writers threw it out.
VILLIANS
Now we get to the fun part... the bad guys. And there've been a few. Chamber has managed to stand up to almost all of them. (I say almost just in case I'm forgetting one... as far as I can remember, he's given ALL of them a run for their money!)
EMPLATE
Emplate is the very first villian Chamber encountered. He feeds off the genetic patterns of other mutants, abosorbing their powers. He is also capable of instant recognition of any mutant he encounters. He has a special interest in feasting on Chamber. He has not, to date, been overly successful. Still, not exactly the type of guy you'd like to see the minute you step off a trans-atlantic flight!
THE GLAMOR MACHINE
Well, not exactly a villian. It's owned by a bunch of faeries in a parallel dimension. Without it, their realm just isn't the same. When Cassidy Keep dissappeared to this dimension, Chamber saved the day by restarting the thing.
OMEGA RED
DEFINITLEY not a nice guy. He emits a mutant death spore virus. He kills just 'cos he thinks its fun. He attacked the team, put Banshee and the White Queen in the infirmary, and did the best he could to kill off the kids. His mistake, however, was going after Husk. Funny... he hasn't been around much lately. I suppose he's still collecting the pieces of himself that Chamber scattered to the far ends of the earth!
ONSLAUGHT
Chamber never actually fought him. They just met briefly, courtosey of Gateway.
Formed from the dark side of Charles Xavier and Mageneto's memories, Onslaught
erased Chamber's memory. (Chamber later remarked that the only reason
for that would be fear of recognition. Odd.... look for a follow up on that
sometime in the future.)
THOSE DUDES IN THE BAR
AND
THOSE DUDES IN THE TRUCK
Well, not really villians. Just annoying people who obligated Chamber to kick their butts. First, the bar: he had to start a bar fight with some rather unsavory charactars to keep them away so Skin could visit his own grave. Yippee.
Second, the truck: just a bunch of Northern rednecks who decided to drive up to the school with eggs, etc., on Halloween night. In a fantastic team effort, they were sent quickly on their way.
BLACK TOM CASSIDY
Chamber never got to fight him. Instead, he managed to kidnap everyone except Jubilee, Penace, and the little ones, and put them in a bubble under the Atlantic. Eventually Penance sliced him down to size.
MINOR CHARACTERS
People we don't quite know where to put (in the case of the first one), or would rather forget altogether (in the case of the second one).
GAIL EDGERTON
Chamber's ex-girlfriend, she may or may not have been injured when his powers manifested. She first appeared it X-Men: Prime, and later showed up in the pages of GenX accompanied by Emplate. Then bent on 'revenge', she seems to have made some sort of peace with him. However, she holds an important key to his past and will most likely be returning.
HOWARD THE DUCK
He gave Skin and Chamber a ride to L.A. He helped them in a barfight. He'd better get out of the pages of this comic book SOON!!!!!
