"Joan's Model Lover"

Handsome Jon-Erik Hexum is the man whom superstar Joan Collins hand-picked to appear in her latest TV movie.

When 50-year-old Joan won the lead part in the sizzling film, The Making of a Male Model, she insisted on choosing her own leading man.

Jon, 25, 6ft 1in strapping former college football player, was the hunk she selected from hundreds of hopefuls.

Inevitably, there have been rumours that the steamy bedroom action is not just confined to the filmset, but Joan denies there is any romance.

"We're just friends," she insists.

But the couple have been seen together at practically every Hollywood gathering where a photographer is present, and Jon's denials are even more tantalising.

"It's not a romance" he sys. "But that's not to say that it never will be."

In the film, Joan plays the boss of a model agency, and Jon plays the simple cowboy, Tyler Burnett, who makes it to the big time via Joan's bed.

He's no stranger to the role. After leaving college, where he took a degree in social science, he decided that his face was his fortune and did modeling jobs, as well as working part time to pay for acting lessons.

He was eventually taken in hand by Johan Travolta's former manager, Bob Le Mond, who met Hexum while he was cleaning a friend's house.

Other rumours surround the well-muscled newcomer but he is quick to dispel them. "Gay, I ain't," he says, but he admits to being unhappy in love.

Joan is currently working on a new series of Dynasty but Jon turned down advice that he should try for the role of her new lover in the series.

He thought the three-year commitment might get in the way of a bigger chance in the movies.
