By now, you've probably heard Mariah Carey's much-written-about
rags-to-riches story. The 24 year old superstar struggled to make ends meet
before her career took off.
"Growing up poor make me determined," she has said. "I'm never going to
let it happen again." Judging by the way things are going, Mariah has nothing
to worry about. This month, Cinderella is cashing in agian with the release
of her Merry Christmas CD.
Now that Mariah has put poverty behind her, she and Tommy Mottola, her
husband of about a year and a half, have all the pleasures of prosperity.
In addition to a New York appartment, the two share an estate in New York's
Hundson River Valley, complete with servents, a guest house and a pond. And
all this after Mariah's man gave her a six carat diamond ring and spent
nearly half a million dollars on thier June 1993 wedding!
Mariah recently told USA Today she's "experiencing enjoying" all the
perks of fame and fortune she worked so hard to attain. So while her
lifestyle may seem lavish, Mariah has certainly earned the opportunity to
treat herself to the things that she never knew as a kid. And though she has
surrounded herself with wordly possesions, Mariah hasn't forgetten her humble
beginings.
"I realized how incredible (it all)is," she told USA Today . " I don't
take all that for granted at all."
