Not only does Mariah Carey carry tunes like the wind carries a kite, she also
writes her own music. Why does she pen her own songs--when she could easily
be realaxing on the beach while somebody else struggles to compose good
lyrics?
"If someone just handed me a song and said, 'Here sing this--this is what I
wrote,' It wouldn't be coming from inside me," she explains. "That's why I
like to write and express myself. I think you should believe in what you
sing."
Mariah is hard at work writing and recording her next album--which should be
out later this year. So she has been out of the limelight for a little
while, but she doesn't fret over losing her popularity while we wait.
"Good music and a good song will always shine through, no matter what
happens," she says. "And I feel that if I can keep doing music that I'm
proud of, then that is the most important thing to me."
Not to mention letting her expanding talents...well, expand.
" I just want to grow and get better," says Mariah, " and hopefully learn
something new every day about what I'm doing."
