It's amazing what can happen when you sit down with at 55 year old typewriter one night after school.

The Wizard

Zekoran has powers great,
But he uses tools to assist
In finding where dark ones wait.
With the device, nothing is missed.

Through the wizard's greatest spy,
All may well be seen.
A mystic, peering, seeing eye;
An orb with shimmer and gleam.

When danger is near,
Images quickly flow.
To confirm the wizard's fear,
A bright color will show.

From each course,
North, South, East, West,
He views the opposing force
Setting upon their quest.

The wizard can be sure,
When yellow shines forth,
The color is pure,
And the threat is from the North.

When the orb shines red;
An ominious and warring sum,
Having strong mail upon the head;
From the South they come.

A dragon released,
Away departs the foe
Deep into the East;
Green is the orb's glow.

Blue is the color of the West,
When battle looms, and advance
Knights bearing King's crest.
The wizard steals a single glance.

Not just danger does the orb impress,
It will let the wizard see
Those who are in distress,
Or when he may need to flee.

One dark, rainy night,
The wizard hears a shriek
Of deaf'ning female fright;
The ball he does quickly seek.

An orange he'd never seen, glints,
Radiates and glares;
A new hazard it hints,
To see danger, he prepares.

In a far tower,
Leagues across the land,
A dark warlock glowers
With a maiden in his hand.

She trembles and pleads,
Begging the good wizard to aid,
But his heart bleeds,
Having no trustworthy blade.

Silent in the chamber, he gazes
Deep into the orb's hypnotic flow,
Watching the maiden in phases;
Seeing the enemy's fatal blow.

She perishes not in vain,
The wizard knows her strife.
But still he sees her slain;
Loss of innocent life.

He watches the orange glow die;
In the orb cloud descends.
Only a single tear does he cry;
The emotion quickly ends.

Zekoran feels no guilt,
For he has done no wrong
By not taking the hilt,
Or facing danger long.

The wizard will defend,
When seeing those in trouble,
That saving them shall depend
Whether he wishes to risk double.
