Jason/Taggert at the PC police station.......

Jason has been brought in for questioning regarding the murder of Dr. Pierce Dorman. One of his favorite detectives, Taggert, is doing the interrogation.

Scene opens with Taggert and Jason in the interrogation room of the police station. Taggert is taping the conversation.....

Jason: (looks at tape recorder) "How long does that go for?"

Taggert: "Tell you what." (shuts off recorder) "This is not for posterity now. It's just for me. Tell me now. You can deny it later. I won't mind. Just saving a little leg work." (leans back in his chair) "You killed Pierce Dorman didn't you?" (Jason stares at him, silent)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Taggert: (stands up, walks around) "None of this looks good for you my friend."

Jason: "Hey, I'm not your friend. You're sure as hell not mine."

Taggert: "By your own admission, you were looking for Dr. Dorman so you could kill him. You've also stated you were alone with his dead body until Carly Roberts came into the morgue and even though the murder weapon hasn't been recovered.....so far.....and forensics hasn't completed their investigation. None of this looks good for you."

Jason: (looks at Taggert) "I didn't kill Dr. Dorman."

Taggert: (leans on table) "Well maybe you know who did, because my gut instinct tells me you're hiding something. So why don't you level with me. Is there someone out there you're trying to protect?" (Jason stares at him)

Jason: "I didn't kill Dorman." (picks up tape recorder and speaks directly into the microphone) "I wanted to, but somebody already beat me to it, and I don't know who it was." (puts recorder back on table) "Now that's not gonna change no matter how many times you ask me. If I killed him, I'd tell you."

Taggert: "That's reassuring. Once again. Would you tell me if you knew who did?"

Jason: "Depends."

Taggert: "Yeah, right."

Jason: "But it doesn't matter." (starts to get up) "because I don't know. Now, is that it?"

Taggert: "Afraid not. Sit down Jason. You're not going anywhere. I got more questions for you."

Jason: "I wanna make a call."

Taggert: "To who? Your lawyer?"

Jason: "Sonny."

Taggert: "Forget it!" (Taggert leaves the room)

Taggert argues outside interrogation room with Sonny about why they are holding Jason.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Jason is pacing around the room, and Taggert walks in.

Jason: "What are you gonna do? Turn up the thermostat again?"

Taggert: "The preliminary forensics report won't be in for a few hours." (throws folder down on table) "But our team has dug up something else that you oughtta know about."

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Taggert: "We've been at the hospital speaking to employees, collecting information, and a nurse Amy Vining recalls overhearing you make threats to Dr. Dorman, specifically that you were gonna kill him. Now there were other employees around who could back up her story."

Jason: "So what! I already told you I was gonna kill him when I found him!"

Taggert: "You know this could establish pre-meditation. You've been thinking about this for a long time."

Jason: (sighs) "Look Detective. If I wanted to kill him I would have. I was warning him then. This time I meant to, but I was a little too late."

Taggert: "You were alone with the victim. You had the opportunity and you certainly had the motive. Why don't you make this easy on all of us. Fill in the last blank. Why don't you just turn over the murder weapon." (Jason stares angrily at Taggert)

Next scene shows Sonny and his lawyer Valentine discussing Jason and the "charges". Taggert brings Jason out of the interrogation room and Jason sits down in the chair in front of Taggert's desk. Sonny listens in on the conversation.

Valentine: "Detective Taggert."

Taggert: "Mr. Valentine. As long as you're here, you can tell Angerboy how to spell his name so he can sign his statement."

Valentine:" Ah.....Mr. Morgan won't be signing any statement." (turns to Jason) "Were you read your rights?"

Jason: (shakes head) "No sir."

Valentine: "Were you offered counsel?"

Jason: "Nope."

Valentine: "Did you ask for counsel?"

Jason: "Yes. I did."

Valentine: "Were you permitted a phone call?"

Jason: "Nope."

Valentine: "Were you allowed to talk to anyone besides the detective?"

Jason: "Nope."

Valentine: "Well. There you have it. Not only is there no case, but I think I can get Mr. Morgan a six figure settlement for violation of his civil rights."

Taggert: "Let's not forget that we have Mr. Morgan on tape admitting that he was trying to kill the man." (Valentine looks at Jason)

Valentine: "Criminal jurisprudence 101 detective. A coerced statement is invalid. Particularly when the suspect lacks the mental capacity....." (Jason stands up, slams his hand on the desk and glares at Valentine)".....to formulate."

Sonny: "Take it easy."

Taggert: (Looks at Jason and laughs) "You hear that? Your lawyer thinks you're to dumb to stand trial. But he's wrong. You can't use stupidity as a defense for murder."

Valentine: "You're the one goating a prisoner in front of witnesses. What do you say we take a look at that statement and see if Mr. Morgan will sign any part of it?"

Taggert: "Well, as long as it's costing Corinthos a thousand bucks an hour, you can look all you want." (walks over to Jason) "Give me your left hand." (takes out cuffs)

Valentine: "What are you doing?"

Taggert: "Restraining him." (cuffs Jason to the chair) "See....your client lacks the capacity to understand the word 'Stay'" (Jason sits down) "This way Mr. Valentine."(they leave)

Sonny "You alright?"

Jason "Yeah." (shrugs)

Sonny: "I'm not. What the hell were you thinking?"
