This is the Waldorf suite of Mr. Alan Swann. Benjy and K.C. (the producer's assistant on whom Benjy has a crush) have managed to wrestle Alan into his room. And so what if he tried to steal a cab/and made a scene at the hotel desk/So it took three bellhops to get him upstairs/okay, all right, so what, who cares/The main thing is that Swann was in New York!
Benjy's stepfather Rookie and mother Belle. They've come by Alan's suite to "bring him a little something for dinner." Belle wants to meet Alan, but Benjy tells her that Alan's had a long flight and is "indisposed." Belle understands. "Indisposed! Oy! I had that in Mexico!"
Alan has just suggested he and Benjy go out to dinner, but Benjy is worried that if they dine out instead of calling room service he won't be able to keep Alan from drinking. Fortunately Alan knows of Benjy's promise and agrees to stay away from the booze. "Besides," he adds, "there are intoxicants other than alcohol."
Big production number! "The night is young, the night is young in Manhaaaataaannnn! So many pleasures at our beck and caaaaalllll!" Alan and Benjy go out on the town, and really tear it up...without a single drink. The number ends with police sirens wailing, and the revelers scattering. As Benjy says the next day, "Okay he may have started a couple fights, and blocked traffic a little bit, and gone nude swimming in a fountain, but by God, he was stone cold sober when he did it."
