book "Stories of The Fire"
Peggy Dylan: One day I taught a siminar in Washington. The class was invited to break through 1" pine boards with thier bare hands. After a breaking demonstration a woman walked up to me and asked me a question.
She said, "Would it be alright if I break a board? I have plastic wrist, so I need to know if it's okay."
I freaked out. I didn't think she should do it.
She said, "I need to tell you a story of what's happened to me as a result of firewalking." She told me the story of how she had rheumatiod arthritis from the time she was 7 years old. She was in her mid-thirty's. She woke up 2-3 times every night with pain so bad she had to take pills to get back to sleep. The arthritis was so bad, she had to have her wrist replaced with plastic wrists.
The night after the firewalk was the first time she did not need pain pills. Six weeks later she was not taking any more pain pills. I became aware of this healing when this woman wanted to break a 1" thick pine board with her fists.
After she told me the story of her healing, she said, "If I can cure my arthritis, I can break a board with plastic wrists."
I was convinced. I stepped back and said, "Have at it." She did it! It was unbelievable! She broke through a 1" pine board with plastic wrists. She hit the board so intensely, she probably could of broken a rock.
The firewalk seems to give people what they need, whether that's healing or personal empowerment. It gives a spirit connection.
Advice to Would-be Firewalkers
A guru came to San Francisco one time. A large gathering of people came to hear him. He said,"Are there any of you here who have not started on the spiritual path yet? Are there any here who are not seeking enlightenment? Are there any who this is the first?"
About two dozen hands went up.
The guru said, "I recommend that you leave right now. Because once you get into this, it's addicting. If you want to live a normal life, leave now. I will now pause for 5 minutes."
He took a 5 minute break and nobody left. He said, "I warned you." Then he proceeded talking to the group.
If you haven't firewalked, you might consider keeping your normal life. Firewalking might pull you off into unbelievable aventures of spirit. If you don't want that to happen, don't firewalk. Put this book down and run.
But if there is a yearning, if you're not satified and you want to drink more deeply from the waters of life, than by all means, dance on the coals. It's reaching a hand toward spirit and feeling that connection. It's the most magical door you'll ever walk through.
