There will soon be an addition to the three Steps of the USMLE . The ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) will be a test of clinical skill: physical examination, communication, history taking , english language skills and interviewing skills. This CSA will have to be taken by IMGs who have passed Steps I & II and have met all other requirements for ECFMG certification. It may be required for ECFMG certification once it is introduced . The tentative date for introduction is 1998. The booklet from the ECFMG will have the latest and most valid information.

The USMLE exams may soon (1998) be computerized.
