To the victims and families of the September, 11th tragedy

Nobody, nobody symbolizes America better in the comic world (and heck nobody period) than Captain America. Something in the character just speaks to me as an American. I guess it's because he stands for everything good in us and everything we want to be.

From the first time I heard of the tragedy, I thought of the lives lost, the many innocents who suffered and still continue to suffer. And as a modest wanna be artist and writer, as well as a hardcore comic nut... my mind could not help but turn to Captain America. I thought a comic book would be in order... something that would show Cap's  reaction to such destruction. Nothing my minor art skills can create, would come close to the picture in my head... but in The Amazing Spider Man # 36 they managed to create exactly what I was thinking of and include Spider-Man and a lot of the rest of the Marvel Heroes as well. If you haven't found it yet, check it out. Its cover isn't much in the way of art... it's nothing but black, but it's that black which says a lot if you think about it.

I know this is a bit late... many months late. But I'm putting this here permanently, for as long as the site stays up. Because the pain from something like this doesn't die and neither should the support.

My prayers and sympathies go with you.

In keeping with my praise of things related to Sept 11... I've just found this song by Toby Keith. I know I might be a bit behind other Americans in hearing it (mostly because I live in Europe where the only country played is Shania Twain and Faith Hill because the D.J's find them cute), but I feel I should put it in here anyway because, to me this is just an awesome song with words and music that immediatly brought tears of pride to my eyes and sent me wondering where I can find a US Flag in Europe. Even now as I listen to it I feel the swell of pride that a lot of Americans feel when they see the flag now or hear our national anthem.

Great job byToby Keith and the writers of this most wonderful of songs since "The Change" by Garth Brooks, which was about the Oklahoma City Bombing.

American girls, American Guys

We'll always stand up and salute we'll always recognize.

When we see old glory flyin', there's a lot of men dead.

So that we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.

My daddy served in the Army, where he lost his right eye.

But he flew a flag out in our yard, till the day that he died.

He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me

to grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack

A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in from somewhere in the back.

Soon as we could see clearly, through our big black eye;

Man we lit up your world like the fourth of July!

And Uncle Sam put your name, at the top of his list!

And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist!

And the Eagle will fly, and there's gonna be hell

When you hear Mother Freedom start ringin her bell!

And it'll feel like the whole wide world is rainin' down on you!

Oh, brought to you courtesty, of the Red, White, and Blue.

Oh,  justice will be served and the battle will rage.

This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.

You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A-

'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass it's the Ameican Way!

Oh, Oh!

Of the Red, White and Blue

Oh Oh Oh!

Of my red white and blue!
