Barracks

Our hero is a 16(?)-year-old sergeant of Mithril. As a member of its SRT with a code name of Urz 7, he is very skilled in all sorts of combat techniques but is probably best at operating AS's. His life is drastically changed when he is assigned to a mission where he enters a high school in Tokyo to secretly guard a "Whispered" girl, Chidori Kaname.

Although he is Japanese, it is not known when and where he was born (thus his age is only an assumed one). All we know is that he was raised by an Afghan guerilla and fought against USSR (including Kalinin) ever since he was very young. This has made him an extremely capable soldier in the battlefield but an extremely incapable student in the over-peaceful Japan.

His hobby is fishing and reading books.

A sixteen-year-old student of Jindai High School in Tokyo. She has been just an ordinary girl until several intelligence agencies of the world find out that she might be a Whispered. Mithril sends Sousuke and others to protect her from a possible kidnap by terrorists but it turns out Sousuke, who has no common knowledge of Japanese schools, causes more trouble for her than terrorists ever could.

She lives alone in a flat as her father, who is now the UN High Commissioner for Environment, and sister (11 years old) live in New York and her mother died of illness three years ago.

Kaname is very good-looking with a nice figure and active and outgoing... perhaps too active. She is least lady-like and has earned the title of "The Best Idol You Don't Want to Be Your Girlfriend" at her school. Despite of her active personality, she suffers from low blood pressure and is very inactive in the morning ^_^;; She is also the Vice President of the Student Society.

A sixteen-year old girl with ash-blonde hair and grey eyes. She is a colonel of Mithril and the captain of an assault submarine, The Tuatha de Danaan. This means at the same time she is the chief commander of Mithril's West Pacific Battle Group. The incredible appointment is due to the fact that she is a Whispered and designed the submarine herself.

She is an Italian-American but her family has strong Swiss and Austrian blood in them. In contrast to her brilliant brain, her body is extremely awkward. Kaname once described her as "a girl who can't walk without tripping." This is not exactly true but VERY close to it ^_^;; It seems she also suffers from chronic "unreasonably low blood pressure" (according to her own word ^_^;;) and has done numerous silly things while she is half awake.

She once lived in Okinawa when she was small as her father was stationed in a US base there. She can speak Japanese and oshiruko drink is still her favourite.

A sergeant of Mithril. He is a member of SRT like Sousuke and probably his best friend (his code name is Urz 6). Although he is good at various things just like Sousuke, his specialty is sniping and can probably beat Saeba Ryou in that field ^_-

He seems to be a German but no one really knows his past. We know he lived in Tokyo when he was small (up to 14) and can speak perfect Japanese even now. In fact he knows more about Japan and its culture than Sousuke does. Very good looking, he used to be a professional model before becoming a mercenary. It seems he is in Mithril for money as he is deep in debt (due to his sister's illness?).

His appearance might attract any woman but his speech and behaviour would repel her in a second ^_^;; While Sousuke is a good boy of the SRT, he is the trouble maker.

A warrant officer of Mithril and the leader-in-field of the SRT, with a code name Urz-2. Being an excellent leader as well as a skilled soldier, she is very well respected by Sousuke and Kurz. Unlike other members of the SRT, she has got a degree in engineering and understands the engineering aspects of AS.

She is a Chinese-American born in New York and used to be a US Marine. Perhaps because of this, she is extremely good at bad language when she wants to. She is also a personal friend of Tessa.

BTW, it was her who picked up Sousuke and Kurz for the SRT from a secret training camp of Mithril in Belize.

A major of Mithril and the chief commander of the SRT of the Toatha de Danaan. He was an officer of Spetsnaz of USSR when he fought against Sousuke, who was an Afghan guerrilla at that time. But due to internal power struggle, he was politically trapped and had to run away from his country. Apparently he is on Spetsnaz's "wanted" list even now.

Despite of his dry and almost heartless attitude to his duty, he seems to have a pretty good sense of humour. He is also an extremely bad cook and his offer of dinner is dreaded by his colleagues ^_^;;

A classmate of Kaname and Sousuke, with big round glasses. She is a (perhaps the only) close friend of Kaname. Although she looks much younger than she is, Kyouko appears to be mentally very mature and stable.

The President of the Student Society of Jindai High School. Extremely cleaver and cunning, he not only assumes complete control of the Society but also keeps it almost completely independent from the teachers.

Unlike Kaname, he thinks pretty high of what Sousuke does in the school and has appointed him to his Assistant for Security. Sousuke in turn highly respects his political talent whereas Kaname and perhaps most of the students think he is just eccentric.

The Secretary of the Student Society of Jindai High School. In sharp contrast to Kaname, she looks and behaves like a traditional Japanese beauty and is very naive. It seems she adores Hayashimizu but she says she just respects his talent.

She is an only daughter of the boss of a yakuza group although she thinks her father is just "running a small business."

An English teacher of Jindai High School and the classroom teacher of Kaname and Sousuke. Being very eager and enthusiastic, she is always close to her students. As you see in the anime, she was ready to sacrifice herself to save Kaname. Yet her enthusiasm sometimes goes too far and her common sense may not be the same as that of the ordinary people.

She is a big eater (not as bad as Lina Inverse ^_-) and ate steak enough for four on her first date with her colleague, Mizuhoshi Iori (Kaname reproved her later, saying "You should have stopped with the third servings" ^o^;;).
