This AS is the main force of Mithril and one of the so-called "third generation" AS's. It is said to be 10 years ahead of the rest the world in technology. As it is powered by a palladium reactors, rather than noisy gas turbine, and equipped with the latest ECS whose effect extends to visual light, it can be used in highly secretive missions. Gurnsback can handle a very wide range of firearms/weapons, including 40mm rifle, anti-tank dagger and mono-molecular cutter.

This is the main force of "Western" nations such as USA. Already several years in the front line, the series have a few "modified" models. For example, US Marines currently use M6A2.

Although it trails far behind of Gurnsback in terms of its ability, one thing that it has over Gurnsback is its ease to operate. This is why Sousuke recommended this old machine to Tessa in her AS duel against Melissa.

This is the only AS of Mithril that is equipped with a lambda driver. As its AI adjusted itself to Sousuke in the first mission, he is now the only person who can operate it. Arbarest was designed by Bani Morowta, a "whispered" engineer of Mithril but, now that he is dead, Nora Lemming is taking care of it.

A "second generation" AS of USSR. It is widely used among the eastern nations. Although its ability falls behind of its western counterpart, M6, its simple structure means the machine is highly reliable and easy to maintain. This might be one reason why Savage is used by non-government forces such as guerrillas. In fact, it was with this AS which Sousuke learned his skill of AS operation in Afghan and he knows it inside out.
