The Classic-Mustangs mailing list is a open to all enthusiasts of the
Classic Mustangs from 1964 1/2 through 1973. Ownership is not required
to join the list! This list is designed to provide a forum for sharing
information on the joys (and frustrations??) of driving, restoring, repairing,
maintaining, showing, buying, selling, obtaining parts, etc...
The Classic-Mustangs mailing list is supported by the e-mail distribution list software called "listserv", which provides automated administrative commands via e-mail. The listserv server's e-mail address is LISTSERV@LISTS.VNTG-MUSTANG.COM. Please make note that this address is different than that of the actual Classic-Mustangs mailing list's address.
The Classic-Mustangs mailing list is closed to non-members, which means that only subscribed members can post notes to the list itself. This tends to eliminate unwanted, mass solicitations, spamming and other junk-mail type messages that are common on the internet.
The Classic-Mustangs mailing list operates in two modes: "live" and "digest." The "live" mode simply reposts each and every mailnote directly to all subscribed members, just as it was sent to the Classic-Mustangs list. The "digest" mode collects & stores all the posts, and mails out a disgest once every day. This "digest" version contains all of the same information as the "live" version does, but it is contained within one single mailnote.
In order to send a command to the listserv server, you must put the command in the NOTE or TEXT portion of your mailnote. Do not put any other information in the NOTE, such as you signature file or other comments. Please note that commands are NOT recognized, if they are just put into the SUBJECT field of the mailnote. Here are some of the more commonly used listserv commands:
