Problems with the pictures ! -
sometimes it seems that the pictures do not load.
I have found a solution which does work normally -
RIGHT CLICK ON THE PICTURE AND THEN CLICK ON "SHOW PICTURE"
Good luck !
Saturday was very busy since the balloon fest was on bringing an increased number of visitors to the city. The weather was fine and warm and the summer seemed to have arrived at last.
Fleet News week ending 13/5/00
City of Oxford Motor Services.
Several unusual sightings this week on various routes. Saturday saw Volvo B10BLEs on different workings. 808 was on 4 road, which may have been one of the first times these buses have worked this route. 819 and 821 were on 2 road and 407, a Dart SLF spent most of Saturday on 5 road. 640, a Volvo B10B dual door appeared on X3 on the same day. This route is normally the reserve of single door buses. As a result some of the allocation on 15 road was of the T reg VolvoB10BLEs, including 811.
A number of drivers are now wearing new shirts with the latest logo but so far no new ties have arrived, though these are in the process of manufacture.
On Wednesday notable allocations to routes were ; 815 and 817 on 2 road, 647 operated in the afternoon on 35 road in place of 615 and most notable of all was the appearance of 804 on X3s in lieu of 619.
Repaints have slowed and only 613 seems to have been repainted recently.
Stagecoach Oxford.
A further advert has started to appear on the rear of the Oxford Tubes. The latest allocation list shows Mercedes received from Manchester , nrs 453, 454 , 455 and 462 with N6xxVSS registrations as being allocated to Witney. Oxford Mercs 333, 339, 361 and 364 have correspondingly been withdrawn. Oxford has 133 vehicles allocation whilst Witney has 32. 4 buses are out stationed at Chipping Norton and 3 at Bicester, all from the above Oxford allocation.
Wycombe Bus Company.
The only item of note this week is the fact that the blinds in the transferred Volvos, which looked rather poor have been replaced with brand new blinds and these look altogether much better.
Cambridge Coach Services.
One of older H registered Volvos , 347 , has been in Oxford this last week and Jetlink G809BPG an ex Speedlink coach has also been seen on the 757 in Oxford.
SPECIAL NOTE.
Michael Wootten of Wootten's Coaches writes to note that there is a bus rally at The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre on Sunday 29th May 2000. Several local operators will be supporting the event including Wootten's who hope to take a Bristol VR and possibly one of their ex Redwing Volvo/Plaxtons. I hope some of you may be able to attend this function.
