In 1999 Turner announced that in addition to Mellings
primary
sponsor, Cartoon Network. That there would be two more
sponsors that would paint the car in selected races. Those
two sponsors were TBS Superstation/Atlanta Braves and
WCW World Championship Wrestling. Thats where this car came
in. WCW had already had two designs before this one
featuring the nWo and WCW's new logo. But this one was the
third and final design of the WCW. The car was revealed at
Daytona International Speedway, and was made to show the world the champion of the WCW, Bill Goldberg. This car was really cool. The car was a shiny sparkley gold with a red number 9. The hood featured Goldberg himself with the WCW
logo. Both sides looked the same featuring Goldberg's tatoo
above the rear tire. The TV Pannel was a promotion for WCW's official website, WCW.COM . Check out pictures of this cool car at the Goldberg #9 Picture Page!
This was also a chance for WCW to introduce to some NASCAR fans Bill Goldberg himself who came to the race with Jerry.
This race was the only race they would race the Goldberg #9
in. Because this race was the Pepsi 400 under the lights at
Daytona. Jerry was hoping to do good at this. Starting 16th
he took the green flag. During the race Jerry had transmission
problems slowing the car down, but Jerry stilled tried to race. He ended up finishing 37th. A dissapointing race that
was, but at least he had a cool car.
