driving for #9 in 99 but in mid season Melling Racing let him go, then Jerry went to fill in for the injured Ernie Irvan. But Ernie decided to retire, making Jerry the driver of the M&M's #36 for the rest of 1999. Since M&M's are the official candy of the Millennium, they wanted to celebrate with a new deisgn on the #36, making Jerry the official driver of the Millennium M&M's #36.
