Rockingham wreck ruins rookie Steve Park's opportunity to race in inaugural Las Vegas event. Although very disappointed, Park and crew suspected they might not qualify since they wrecked their primary car in Rockingham and had to depend on backup car for Las Vegas race. The car had never been tested there, it being a new track and new team. Steve Park winds up number 41 in points race after the event.
With only 11 or so cars on the lead lap, 13th would have been a great finish for rookie Steve Park and the highest finish of all the rookie of the year contenters. WOULD HAVE BEEN! Irvan into Park or Park into Irvan, I'm not sure, but both lost what was going on a decent finish in a very tough Ford Show. He'll get them in Las Vegas!
Steve Park brought the Pennzoil 1 car owned by Dale Earnhardt Inc. back to the garage after 158 of 200 laps of the Great American Race. The ingnition problem put him in 41st in his debut as a Winston Cup Rookie.
