Rheostatic control; foot operated master controller regulated by hydraulic damper giving "notchless" acceleration and breaking.
Breaking system combined rheostatic motor breaking with air operated wheel breaks.
Even before the Crossleys had entered service, tenders were called in 1948 for 38 more trolleys. Identical in style to the Crossleys, the bodies for these buses were built in Australia and assembled by the Wellington City Council and New Zealand Motor Bodies. These buses however had light weight all metal frames. Like the Crossleys these originally sported silver paint work.
