Sit back and get ready for a tour of my favorite town. Chicago. I live about 30 minutes outside the city. I like to downtown as often as possible. People watching is a great sport. So visit all the links you want for a free tour of Chicago.

CHICAGO is known to some as THE CITY OF BIG SHOULDERS. Also THE WINDY CITY. Although Chicago is ranked 14th in the US for wind velocity. Chicago is also called SECOND CITY,referring to being number 2 compared to New York. Chicago is also home to a few TV shows. Oprah is filmed here as is Jenny Jones and Jerry Springer. You can also see parts of Chicago on ER which is filmed by Northwestern Hospital. I have included links to Oprah, Jenny Jones and Jerry Springer. So you can try for tickets or just see whats up on their shows.

A fun place to go and see a movie is called BREW AND VIEW. You can have food and drinks and see a good film. They have drink specials different nights of the week. Thursdays sound fun. Check it out.

Getting around in Chicago is not very hard. I have a map for you to see where your going.

There are many ways to get around downtown. Taxi, bus, train (called the EL, for elevated track). Here is a link for look at the route system for the CTA(chicago transit authority) You can also get 1,2,3 or 5 passes. Good deal. $5 for 1 day, $9 for 2 days, $12 for 3 days and $18 for 5 days.

How to Use a Chicago Taxi

Three interesting things to do are the Board of Trade, the Stock Exchange, and the Mercantile Exchange. Take a tour and watch the action.

So you need to get here? We have two airports in the area for you to get here. O'Hare is one of the largest airports in the world. 700,000 people passed through O'Hare in 1997. There is also Midway which is south of downtown. Much smaller and easier to use. Well not any more. They re-did the whole place to be a version of O'Hare. Just call it mini O'Hare.
