Who
makes Henry's onstage jackets? They look great!
This article is by Brad Schmitt, and ran in the Tennessean on Sunday, May 11 1997
"...Henry says the boys have worked hard on thier upcoming album [Love & Gravity], and with a new album comes a new jacket for Henry. No his designer's not Manuel; it's a radio program director in Des Moines, Iowa. 'We met doing station visits, and we got to talking about high fashion, and the next thing you know, we're designing jackets,' Henry said of Beverlee Brannigan of KJJY-FM. Beverlee, a talented seamstress, says she loves helping Henry, especially after she first met him, in 1993. 'I remember thinking, "... I hope this guy gets a hit, because he really needs a new jacket,"' Beverlee giggles. 'His jacket's a bit worn.'"
Naturally, when the three came together in '93, they had to pick a name. Some of the ideas that were thrown around included 'Carload of Texans', 'The Mustwangs', and 'Dustbowl Romeos.' One day while he was driving to a session with the others, Van passed a truck on the interstate. On the side of the truck it said "BlackHawk Printing." Bingo.
Not really! The story is that Henry and Van had a bet that 'Every Once in a While' would go to number one, and if it did, Dave would shave his head. The day they found out that the single went to number one, Dave showed up at a concert with his head shaved. He jokingly called it his 'Hawk-mo.'
