"Trail Picnic"

~~Welcome~~

Heading out Picnic trail.

>

Keep in line please every one. The trail gets quite
steep when we leave the main trail. Keep your eyes
open there are lots of things to see. Oh! look there,
bunnies feeding at the edge of the woods.

Starting up the mountain trail
just inside the wood the
guide pointed to a small fawn
that had been left to rest
in the tall grass.

.

Moving along up the trail, working our way between big
boulders and trees, we climb and climb up the hill.
Rows of flowers and mushrooms line the path.

Rays of sun light sweep down through the branches
and bits of dew drops sparkle and shine on leaves and
petals. There are mosses and lykin covering the logs and rock from the dampness. There are cute little squirrels skittering
through the trees and birds singing every where.
Oh! what a lovly day to be out enjoying nature.

The land starts to level off and the woods opens up to
a beautifly meadow with green grasses and mountain
flowers. Clusters of wild mountain blueberry bushes
scattered here and there. Stopping here and getting
off the horses to hike over to where we will have lunch.
Oh look at the fox looking for his lunch also. .

The fox might find
a ground squirrel or
field mouse four
lunch, or even a
big fat grasshopper.

Moving along through the fields of flowers we find lunch
set out on a ready made table. A big flat rock serves
the purpose. An assortment of wine and juices are there.
.

Stretching out on a blanket in the warm sun after a large
lunch of salads, chicken, cold cuts, cheeses and etc. we
enjoy a nice relaxing rest. Oh the natives are here to
enjoy to, as a pair of field rats find a piece of cheese to
share.

Helping to clean up picnic site and getting ready to head
back toward the ranch.
As I look around before we leave, I bend down and pick a
small wild flower to slip in my pocket. When I get back
will add it to momentos to take home with me, as well as
the many pictures we take along the way.
Working our
way back to the horses we see some deer feeding at the
edge of the wood.

The deer lift their heads to
look and decide we are no
thret and go on feeding.

While we were having lunch, so were the horses. They were
feeding on the lush tall grasses of the meadow. back
with saddles tightened and ready to go, we get on and start
back down the hill.

Arriving back at the gate to the ranch, we are glad to
get back after the long ride. We can spend the rest of
the afternoon exploring the ranch.
Click the latch to open the gate.
