Joseph Wu's Origami Page

This fascinating site is a delightful introduction to origami, and includes history, technique, photo galleries, and diagrams. Your visit is sure to be enjoyable - and you'll learn quite a bit in the process. His designs are intricate and original as well.

Postcolonial and Postimperial Literature: An Overview

To call this an extraordinary site would be understatement. The presentation of historical, political, and religious aspects enriches the presentation of literature in English and its authors. I spent two hours exploring the essays and other resources - and I have barely scratched the surface - though it is under construction.. It is a brilliant example of the knowledge and enjoyment that the WWW can (should!) offer.

Something Fishy Eating Disorders Shared Awareness

One of the greatest benefits of the WWW is the opportunity for education. This site is extraordinary not only for its degree of content but for the outstanding service it offers in promoting awareness and healing of eating disorders. If you have the courage to know the truth, visit these pages, and learn of the suffering that those with eating disorders endure - and, if you yourself are a sufferer, visit for hope and encouragement. Amy and Colleen's efforts with this much-needed information make it an honour for me to present them with the grand prize.

Sun Spirit Gallery

Magnificent artwork to delight the highest artistic tastes! The works you will find here are distinctive not only for technique and beauty, but for extraordinary interpretation in their execution. Among the many subjects are Camelot, angels, nature, zodiac, and Native American.

The Slacker Sentinel

Join C.O.O.L for a glorious farce! This hilarious site presents a clever, indeed outrageous, spoof of journalism.

Chiron and Friends

One of the greatest pleasures in bestowing the Class Act award is that of finding content that is both intriguing and highly original. The expert astrologer and author Zane B. Stein presents us with a site centering on Chiron, the recently discovered Centaur (check the site for an explanation!) which is "a major key to healing and wholemaking." The combination of scholarship and wonder one may find at Zane's site will be a treat for the artist and scientist alike. "Chiron and Friends" is a refreshing blend that is what one who does a net search about astrology hopes to find - but seldom does!

CLAW - For Cats Who Reign
Leonora's Choice for Grand Prize

I was not permitted the joys of reviewing this site personally, because access is strictly limited to cats. From Leonora's description, I gather it is an exceedingly clever, hilarious, and well-designed one. All cats are welcome to join CLAW, and, once members, may earn their academic degrees, serve as members of committees, write articles for the Mewsletter, appear in productions at the CLAW theatre, run one of the shops, and become involved in support groups that assist them in dealing with the daily stress of felinehood. (Of course, Leonora has owned me for four years, and I still can't understand that last. If there truly is reincarnation, I'd like to return as a house cat, but be that as it may.) This site is in a class by itself.

Welcome to the World of Color by Robert Craig

Admit it - don't you just love to dye your hair? I was amazed and delighted to find this site, where one may obtain detailed tips, personal responses to queries, an international directory of masters in the field of hair colour and the like - as well as resources for selecting and purchasing suitable products. We've all read of Robert Craig in the fashion magazines, but to find his personally responding to inquiries and teaching the "do-it-yourself" consumer was refreshing and astonishing! Five stars for a commercial site that is more than advertising.

Iran Photo Album

Plan a lengthy visit to this gloriously original site! Nadir describes is as "a pictorial journey through Iran starting from 3000 BC to the present. It comprises over 150 high quality photographs of Artifacts, Persian Carpets, and Tourist Sites such as Persepolis. It also has extensive quality links to other cultural pages of Iranian content on the Internet."

Saint John's Church, Yeadon

This gem from West Yorkshire is one of the best Christian sites I have seen on the Web. Its exquisitely simple presentation and easily downloaded design makes it a pleasure to read and navigate - no matter the speed of your modem!(And, as my regulars know, I normally far prefer intricate, artistic sites.) No Christian will want to miss the monthly magazine, the encouraging and inspiring words, and the combination of spirituality and common sense offered by the Canon.

LFZ Studio

Artistic expression par excellence! Lou is an abstract artist whose work will surely enchant you. He recently was the winner (out of 1,500 applicants) of complimentary publication in the Encyclopedia of Living Artists.

StarChild's Druidism Pages

Excellent, thorough treatment of the old Celtic religion, of which comparatively little is known. One who loves Merlyn as I do could not help but be enchanted! The graphics are out of this world.

A.J.'s Desktop Themes

Over 500 desktop themes for Windows 95 and NT, with previews, can be downloaded from this site.

Christine Daaé on the Web

Christine's site is a smorgasbord of fascination. Among the pages are those exploring the literary history of fairy tales, musical theatre, spirituality, and her Wiccan and tarot interests. Christine's superb page about clinical depression should be required reading for the entire Web community, and clarifies numerous misconceptions about our illness. This site makes delightful myths more enjoyable - and dispels those that harm others.

TruReality

The exquisite design of this site, and the richness of offerings in the .GIF animations, shows extraordinary talent and creativity. Adding to this its excellence as a resource for other HTML authors, it is definitely among the best of the Web.

Gandolf

This wonderful resource for Cornish folklore combines literary mastery with magical design. Plan to spend at least an hour at Gandolf some late evening - knowing that even that amount of time will not do justice to this top ranking site.

Lancelot's Castle

Excellent treatment of chivalry and elements of the Arthurian legend.

Catch a Rhyming Star

This charming site is an artistic treasure - poetry, music, art and much more. Its blend of web design, artistic merit, and a high degree of content is a special treat. The site is suited to any age group, and has something for everyone.

Internet Medieval Sourcebook

Without question, this is the best source for medieval topics that I have seen anywhere on the WWW. It is a scholar's delight, and unequalled in the intellectual realm.

Virtual Tarot

This brilliantly designed site explains much of the history and approach to the tarot art, and allows users to obtain online readings. Its originality and excellence of design, combined with depth of content, gives it a hallmark of web wizardry.

Anonymomma's World

What can top laughter, music, and top notch web artistry? This delightful page is chock full of entertaining information. It's "far out"! - and that is the highest of compliments from Gloriana.

Franciscan Cyberspot

Diverse, rich Franciscan resources, including an excellent on-line course in Franciscan studies and justice and peace contacts. Original, enriching, thorough and certainly amongst the best religious sites on the Web. They already have the "Top 5%" award...but I'm sure they wouldn't mind another from my humble domain.
