Christened as Michael Pérez, his friends just call him Miguelito. He has performed at many places with his favorite dancers Micaela, Edwin and various other flamenco dancers and companies all over Washington DC including the annual Feria de Sevilla of Washington, Washington Folk Festival and Northern Virginia Folk Festivals; theatres including the Publick Playhouse, Kennedy Center Terrace Theater and Lisner Auditorium, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian museums and at the Gala Hispanic Theatre with Paco de Málaga and the Ana Martinez Flamenco Dance Company.

He began his study of flamenco guitar during his senior year at Cal State Fullerton where he received a degree in Classical Guitar Performance. He took lessons in Washington DC from Paco de Málaga and learned "on the job" while playing next to guitarists Ralph Pemberton, Enrique Jova, Guillermo Juan Christie, Marija Temo, and most recently with Richard Marlow among others.

Ocasionally people ask if Miguelito teaches. The answer is no; performing is a lot more fun. And besides, he prefers to pass on prospective flamenco guitar students to the 'real' experts such as Paco de Málaga.

Having worked with nearly every flamenco performer in the DC area during the past 10 years (as of June 2001), Miguelito frequently knows better than anyone else what's going on with all the various flamenco dance companies as far as shows, masterclasses, flamenco accessories for sale and yes...even the gossip too! So...with all this information, the Washington DC Flamenco Website that you are currently viewing was born. If you have any questions, you can email him at . More info about Miguelito can be found at his bio page.
