Warner Bros. studio refused a Marine Corps request to use a clip from the 1987 movie "Full Metal Jacket" in a training CD-ROM on surviving sniper attacks. The clip shows a Marine being killed by a VC sniper. Warner says it has "serious piracy" concerns with CD-ROMs.
This scene takes place in Hue City, RVN. The USMC request is related to the Warfighting Lab's interactive MOUT training initiatives. The intent is to use computer assisted training to supplement field training. It is sad that the concern about piracy over utilizing a small portion of a 12 year old movie should take precedence over Marine and Soldiers lives. I guess that's the Hollywood way.
