Navy '62 to '70. Qualified on Sea Devil (the diesel one), Pomfret, Sam Rayburn, Nat Greene. Got out as ET1(SS). Went to UC Davis, got my ticket punched. Worked at Mare Island 18 years until closure, came to Vandenberg to shoot rockets. Nice site, thanks for showing the U.S. Navy to us old guys with failing memory.

Jim, Stumbled across your page, nice job! You probably don't remember me but your "Me and the boys from "M" Division" (Lafayette) picture brought back memories from my last patrol on the 616 Gold. Will Bevins (or was it Blevins? - the other MMC in the photo ho went LDO/CWO shortly after the picture was taken) and I stayed behind during the first part of the refit waiting on our wives to deliver (mine did, his didn't) and flew over in time to get underway, dating your picture sometime during late summer/fall f 1985. I was the Gold LELT when we split crews and left the yard, you had (or would very shortly thereafter) taken over M-Div from Don Hall. I left the 616 for a prototype tour upon our return ~11/85. I too have been transferred to the Fleet Reserve (11/96) an am currently working (of all places, where we met) at NNS & DD Co., planning CVN overhauls. I'm work directly with another "616" buddy, Tim Alexander (would have left the 616 right after the yard period) - don't know if you knew him or not, and across the street from another ex-Lafa etter Mark P.
