I feel the information on these pages are extremely important. Many things I was not aware of myself until I began researching information. Now that it was brought to my attention hardly a day goes by that I don't hear somewhere there are animals that are not as privileged as ours.

They do not have a place to call home. They do not know if they will eat. They do not get medical treatment. They do not do a lot of things but one thing they do do and that is die from abuse, hunger, predators, giving birth, dying at birth and never knowing what it means to be loved. That is what prompted me to start this part of our home on the web. Please spay or neuter your pet. That will help save thousands of unwanted animals each year.

There is NO excuse for abuse to helpless children and animals. It needs to stop and the abusers suffer criminal charges for their acts of abuse! I think you will also agree after reading about so many animals/pets that died at the hands of horrific abuse.

My sister-in-love (law) had 3 of her cats come up missing a few days before Halloween (1998). They had been a part of her family for years never straying. They got out when she was letting her dog outside. You would like to think that someone stole them because they wanted them for pets, but we know that is wishful thinking :(( She's always so careful, but you never think it can happen to you! Please watch over all your animals especially around or during holidays.

A child that abuses an animal stands a good chance of being seriously injured from the abused animal. And also to become an abuser in later life of not only animals, but humans as well. Please for the sake of the animal and child DO NOT ignore animal abuse!!

I believe all children should have a pet to make them aware of how important they can be in their life. I feel they can learn, at a young age, to share love, friendship, respect and responsibility with a pet. But I also believe they need to be guided with this responsibility.

If a child has a tendency to mistreat or harm your pet you need to remove the pet and talk with the child. Maybe there is something more destructive going on than hitting on the new puppy or kitten. There could be jealousy of the pet, or even another child in the home, with the pet getting the brunt of the misguided feelings. Talk these things over they could be very important signs of other problems. By all means remove the pet if it is in danger! For the sake of the child and the pet.

Call your local animal shelter or police department to report ANY abuse of animals. It is NOT a luxury for a pet to have proper food, shelter and medical care it is REQUIREMENT! It is your responsibility as a caregiver to make certain your pets have proper care. If you are unable to meet these requirements please find someone who can. For you and your pet's sake.
