Lucy plays hard and then she
pants like a dog.
I never saw a cat do that before.
She's been a real riot to watch so far.
With all this energy it is easy
to see why Lucy joined Bitsy's Whackers,
the girl kitties baseball team.
My mother was in the hospital in
January of 1999 and
Lucy came to visit again.
All mine are afraid of her and
that is how she
became LuciFurr.
But they are getting along much better now,
thank goodness.
I was never able to take Lucy
back home after the visit in January, 1999.
My Mom was too sick when she got
home from the hospital and
she died on February 18th,
so Lucy lives with us now and
is a permanent member of my family.
I grew very fond of her and
she was a blessing for my Mom.
I think she always knew my Mom didn't
feel very well and that is why is would lie
on her chest and protect her heart.
She could sense her heart was bad.
I am thankful that Lucy
seems to be settling in with us just fine.
She didn't really like the dogs
when she first came to visit.
I know she misses my Mom though
but she's starting to come and sit in my lap
now to get her chin scratched.
A big step for her to come to me like that.
I still wonder what she thinks though
and if she wonders where Mom is.
She is also letting Madison kiss
her on the head now and not hissing.

On a lighter note, I must take
this opportunity to tell a funny Lucy story.
When I first brought her to my house,
I took her upstairs before
letting her out of the crate
and she has come to think of
the bedroom as belonging to her.
So she guards the stairs and
the dogs were afraid to come up.
I just have to laugh.
Then in the night she started to attack the bed.
Murphy doesn't normally sleep in bed with us,
but she did that night and each time
Lucy attacked they crept closer to me.
It was almost like the shark
from Jaws was after us.
The next night Murphy slept downstairs
in the bathroom to avoid her.
The dogs also had trouble
telling which cat is which.
After she went back to Mom's
when we were going to bed one night
Rufus was at the top of the stairs
waiting and I was walking Madison
up the stairs in our usual fashion
when he focused on Rufus and
stopped dead in his tracks.
I know he was thinking
"Oh No, there's that terrible cat again".
Here are some more pictures of Lucy.
I have to laugh at the way she lays.
She always looks like she is ready
to take off fast; and if
you check out our Xmas page, you can
see her with her very first Christmas stocking.
She had a lot of fun but still liked
our Christmas paper better than the toys.
You can see in these pictures what a huge lion's mane she has.
Well I take her to get groomed every six weeks to comb through all that hair.
She looks and smells so pretty, but she hates it.
It is better for my allergies though, so she must go anyways.

Lucy was swept off her little kitty paws recently by a "catsome" Don Juan named Ginger. He found the way to the ladies heart was through food so he sent her lots of tuna and won the fair maiden's paw. So we cordially invite you to meet Lucy's Wink Wink, Ginger.
Lucy said "show me the tuna" and he did!
Ginger sure knew how to win a lady's heart,
or at least Lucy's heart.
It is with deep sadness that we write
today that Ginger has passed away.
He will be greated missed by Lucy and his mommy, Shell.
Please take a moment and read Ginger's story
and visit his home page and meet
the others that live in his house.
