Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 8b, 9 and 10
Growth: Rapid growth to 20 feet by 20 feet
Form: Loose mound
Leaves: Phyllodes are 1/2" wide by up to 6" long; gray-green
Flowers: Yellow spikes in axils in February and March; profuse pollen
Fruit or Seeds: Flat brown 4" pod all summer
Exposure: Full or part sun
Water: Drought resistant; deep water twice each summer
Soil: Any well drained soil
Fertilizer: Not needed
Prune: As needed to control size as a shrub or small tree
Problems: Few problems

Useful as a screen for large properties. Good for erosion control on slopes and in sandy soils. Shallow, invasive roots. Resistant to oak root fungus.
