Kangaroo!!!

Kangaroos are marsupials that live in Australia, like other marsupials. They are usually known for their powerful legs that are used for jumping and escaping predators, like the dingo. They also use their giant tail for balance and fighting, like a fifth limb. They usually live in groups of only females with their baby joeys and groups of only males.

When mating season comes along, the males will look for the female groups. They will fight each other scratching each other’s face, and kicking each other. They stand on their tails and give their opponent a few good kicks, and using their tail as a third leg. They usually won’t get hurt, but will keep on fighting until one of them gives up. Then the winner mates with the female. The male doesn’t take part in caring for the baby joey. He usually leaves looking for other females to mate with.

When the joey is born, it will struggle into its mother’s pouch. Scientists don’t exactly know how the sqirming little thing knows why it should go there, but it’s probably instinct. When it goes in, it will hook itself to one of its mother’s nipples and will continue drinking for a few months. By that time, the joey will grow pretty big and will explore the outer world but will still drink the mothers milk. When it starts eating grass, the female will mate again but the joey will still stay by the mother’s side until it’s independent. Sometimes, older brothers and sisters will care for the joey for their mother. When it’s ready, it stays in the group if it’s a female, and is chased away if it’s a male.

They usually eat grass and euculyptus leaves as a diet. They will stand on their tails to reach the juicy leaves and will balance on their muscular tails so they can graze in the branches. They use their arms to grasp at the branches to bend them down so they can eat at a more comfortable place. Their closer relative, the Wallaby, also has the same diet but is a smaller size.
