I am dedicating this page to the memory of our first Rott "BA-SHEBA WITT".

Click on any pics below for a larger view. Not only have we owned PITBULLS and a WOLF, we have also been proud owners of ROTTWEILERS.

To the right is "SHEBA" together with my husband Frank, and to the left is "HOOCH" together with our brother and best friend Darrell.

"SHEBA" was our first attempt in owning a Rott, and a very succesfull one. We bought her from a police officer at the age of 4. It was love at first site! She was beautiful and very graceful. She was of German/American origin.

Her fur was different from most Rotts. Her fur was extremely soft and a bit longer than most Rotts. "SHEBA" was an AKC registered dog. She had high hips instead of low hips. Her temperament was terrific! She was originally brought up with children and spoiled rotten, and very possesive.

She didn't like other dogs in our yard since she was an only "child". So... we had to keep her in a pen outside and take turns between "SHEBA" and "TOSAWI" to have inside of the house.

We had her for 5 years, when she developed a rare heart condition. "SHEBA" developed what it seemed like an enlarged heart, but they couldn't diagnose the why or how to treat it. Our vet was great, while "SHEBA" and I were at the vets, she went into a seizure, her body temperature and pulse dropped drastically. I had a heating pad in my car, and ran out to get it to try to bring her body temp up. She died on the table, and our vet was able to bring her back and stabilize her. Sent her home with heart medication. That evening our vet contacted the "School of Veterinarians" in Virginia. But, by the time they got back to us "SHEBA" passed away. It was a heart breaking experience. I stayed with her in her last days...talking to her and hugging her, waiting for news that didn't come on time from the vet.

"OSA"
"SHEBA'S" AND "HOOCH'S" ONLY DAUGHTER

"SHEBA" mothered 2 litters for us. One with "KING" and one with "HOOCH". As a Christmans present we gave "OSA" to Darrell at a young age of 4 months. I didn't see her again until she was 2 years old. And, I have to say...I thought "SHEBA" had come back to life. I cried when I saw "OSA". She looks exactly like her mother. So..."SHEBA" lives on...in her daughter. I will be getting a female pup from "OSA" when she has a litter, and we will name her "SHEBA" in memory of her grandmother.

BAD REPUTATION...I WONDER WHY....?

Here is another breed that has been given a horrible reputation. The Rottweiler was originally bred in Germany as a working dog. Strong, loyal, extremely intelligent, and with a great temperament. After the Rott became "famous", people started to breed them like crazy for their wonderful intimidating looks forgetting about the most important issue, their temperament. Today, some of the Rotts here in the US have very bad temperaments due to inbreeding and such. But, there are a lot of them that have great temperaments!

If you are interested in giving this breed a chance, when you are shopping for a pup, get to know the parents. Find out about their temperaments, ask around...we did. If later on you decide to breed your pup, the partner that you choose should have the same temperament; good, loving, and loyal. If registered (papered), make sure that their next-of-kin is not too close to your pups kin folk.

Through breeding PitBulls, we follow the same procedure. We ask for papers, and compare to ours. We look for kin folk, and in which generation they have the same relative. Our rule of thumb, is that if they have the same relative in their first generation, we don't breed. It's too close.

When breeding any breed, we do a lot of research so that our off-spring will be a good litter.
