MY STAND
By now, you would have known my stand for Mother Nature. I am against open burning, deforestation, wastage of paper and plastic, cruelty to animals , nuclear testing and oil spills. I am not against the fact that in order to progress, we have to clear land, make room for industrialisation or trade goods via sea. But I sure am against man's greed for power, money and status in this materialistic world. Because of mankind, who suffers?? The Earth suffers, animals suffer, mankind themselves suffer. Is it fair? Or is it just a silly act? Destruction is inevitable in a world that is progressing. Hopefully, progress will not rule the world.
Forest fires in Indonesia and open burning have caused a thick haze in my country now(1996). Sarawak was placed under environmental emergency when its Air Pollution Index(API) reached a frightening level of 658.
Everyone plays an important role to take care of our Earth. It may seem like a small role, but, it sure is an important one! If everyone kept their used, unwanted papers for recycling, that would be a start. For other simple things you can do to help Earth, visit my Tips to Save the Environment page. I quote from one of my favourite songs :
" If everybody had a mutual goal, One language and one destiny, If every man had peace within his soul, The way it was meant to be......" -What a World it Would Be-
The tough fight to save our environment had only just begun. Start your year right: Change your Attitude!! For things to change, YOU must change first! Everyone is important in this uphill battle. Be part of it! Make A Stand!
Here's what you could do! Draw out a Mission Statement you can use as a guide when you've forgotten your role in this world. At least then, we know, that wherever we are, whatever we do, No matter how big or small the role is, No matter how different we are, We each have our own Mission Statement And we are definitely going to use it!! Visit my Mission Statement page to get an idea!
